DAY
1 – August 8 (Monday): LOS ANGELES,
CALIFORNIA/LISBON, PORTUGAL
We start our journey with a transatlantic flight
from Los Angeles International Airport to London
Heathrow then on to Lisbon. In-flight meals are
served.
DAY
2 – August 9 (Tuesday): LISBON (BB/D)
Arrive at Lisbon. Once we finish processing through
Immigration and collect our luggage, our local
guide and motor coach will take us for a panoramic
city tour of Lisbon, on our way to the hotel
for dinner and overnight. Dinner/overnight in Lisbon.

DAY 3 – August
10 (Wednesday): LISBON/ SANTAREM/FÁTIMA
(BB/D)
After buffet breakfast, we will take a city tour
of Lisbon, with visits to the Basilica of Saint
Anthony of Padua
and the
famous and historic Belém Tower, monument
to the Age of Discovery, and admire the lovely
Manueline architecture of the Jerónimos
Monastery. Then, we will proceed to Santarem, to
visit the home of the oldest Eucharistic Miracles
in the world. After the visit, we will continue
to Fátima. We’ll arrive late in the
afternoon, when we’ll have an orientation
tour of the Sanctuary. After dinner, we’ll
have the opportunity to join the rest of the pilgrims
from around the world for a candlelight procession.

DAY 4 – August 11 (Thursday): FÁTIMA
(BB/D)
After breakfast, we will have a guided tour of
the shrines of Fátima. Our stops will include
the Apparitions
Chapel, as well as the Sanctuary
of Our Lady of Fátima,
where the Blessed Jacinta and Francisco Marto are
entombed. In the nearby towns of Aljustrel and
Valinhos, we will see the two homes of these shepherd
children, including that of their cousin, Sister
Lúcia de Jesus Rosa Santos. Next, is a stop
at the parish where the seers were baptized. Then
in the afternoon, we will visit the Way
of the Stations of the Cross, site of
the Blessed Mother’s
fourth apparitions, and pray. Dinner and overnight
in Fátima.
DAY 5 - August 12 (Friday): FÁTIMA/PORTO,
PORTUGAL/SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, SPAIN (BB/D)
Today, we will leave for Santiago de Compostela
via Porto. Porto is the second largest city in
Portugal, well known for its signature wine, known
as port. In Porto, We will visit the architectural
highlights of the city, among them the Oporto
Cathedral,
one of the city’s oldest structures. We’ll
also visit the small Romanesque Igreja
de São
Martinho de Cedofeita (Church of Cedofeita), the
Gothic Igreja de São Francisco (Church of
Saint Francis), the remnants of the city walls
and a few 15th-Century houses. We will also stop
at several other Baroque churches in town, including
Igreja de Santa Clara (Church of St. Claire), Igreja
de Miserecordia (Church of Mercy, and Igreja
dos Clérigos (Church of the Clerics). Then we
will continue north into Spain, and make our final
stop in Santiago de Compostela. Upon arrival, we
will take in a panoramic view of the city before
proceeding to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 – August 13 (Saturday): SANTIAGO
DE COMPOSTELA/SALAMANCA (BB/D)
After breakfast, we will visit the Cathedral
of Santiago de Compostela. This city of
Santiago de Compostela is considered a holy city,
and it’s
one of the main hubs of Christian pilgrimage, rivaled
only by Rome and the Holy Land. The ancient pilgrimage
road to the Shrine of St. James in
the Cathedral is known in English as the Way
of St. James, and
in the Galician language as O Camiño
de Santiago. Over 100,000 pilgrims travel
to the city each year from all over the world.
After the visit,
we will then proceed to Salamanca for the night.
Dinner/overnight in Salamanca.

DAY 7 – August
14 (Sunday): SALAMANCA, SPAIN/LOURDES, FRANCE
(BB/D)
After breakfast, we will continue to Lourdes,
France.
In 1858, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St.
Bernadette Soubirous in this picturesque town,
proclaiming “I am the Immaculate Conception”. Lourdes is another
of the great pilgrimage shrines of the world, visited by thousands every year.
We'll arrive in Lourdes in the late afternoon, receive an orientation to the
Shrine, spend some time in the sanctuary, and then join thousands of pilgrims
from around the world for a candlelight procession. Dinner/overnight in Lourdes.
DAY 8 August 15 (Monday): LOURDES (BB/D)
After Holy Mass at the Grotto, we will bathe at
the healing water. Then, we will take a walking
tour of the shrines and sites associated with
the life of St. Bernadette. Afterward, we will
meditate on the passion of our Lord through the
larger-than-life exotic way of the sacrament
and prayers. In the afternoon, there will be
some free time for private devotion. In the evening
we will join the candlelight procession. Dinner & overnight.
DAY 9 – August 16 (Tuesday): LOURDES,
FRANCE/ZARAGOSA, SPAIN/MADRID (BB/D)
As we leave Lourdes, we will say a special farewell
prayer and thank Our Blessed Mother for giving
us the opportunity to spend some time with Her
in this holy place. Then, we go back into Spain,
on our way to Madrid. Along the way, we’ll
stop at Zaragoza to visit the Basilica
of Our Lady of the Pillar, the second
most popular pilgrimage site in Spain, The Basilica
has a magnificent altar,
at the site where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared
to the Apostle St. James, before her assumption
into Heaven. We will go to the Chapel of the Virgin,
and view the marvelous marble sculpture of the
Assumption of the Virgin Mary. If time permits,
we’ll check out the many other chapels and
pieces of artwork within the Basilica. Then, we
proceed to Madrid to join the youth of the world,
to celebrate the World Youth Day! Dinner/overnight
Madrid.

DAYS 10-13 – August 17-20: (Wednesday-Saturday)
MADRID (BB/D)
We’ll take part in daily World Youth
Day activities. If time permits, we may
take side trips to the cities of Burgos and/or
Avila. On Saturday
night, we’ll participate in the traditional
WYD vigil (Saturday dinner will be served at the
vigil).
DAY 14 – August 21 (Sunday): MADRID
(BB/D)
After the WYD Closing Mass officiated
by His Holiness, the Pope, we will have free time
in the afternoon
to attend to any unfinished business, or perhaps
take in some shopping. Diner/overnight in Madrid.
DAY 15 – August 22 (Monday): MADRID,
SPAIN/LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (BB)
After breakfast, we will be transferred from the
hotel to the airport for our flight back home,
bringing us to the conclusion of our World Youth
Day celebration!.
